We Are So Confused!

Picture 32

In tears Manny said, “I am so thankful God gave His Son to die on the cross for me, because I am such a filthy sinner.”

Many followers of Christ believe God sent Jesus to the cross because “we are sinners”. When in actuality God sent His Son because He loves us!

John 3:16 does not say, “For God so thought you were a filthy sinner that He gave His Son and if you would believe that, you would be saved”

John 3:16 does say, “God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.

Oh, but what about Romans 5:8 that says, “While we were sinners Christ died for us”. Doesn’t that express why Christ died for us, we are sinners?”

First off, you forgot the beginning of the verse, it says, “But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”

There are two significant statements in Romans 5:8. First Romans states, “while we were”, which is the acknowledgement that we were sinners. Sin was in the way of us receiving the love God was giving us. Sin needed to be removed so we could receive God’s love. This is what Christ did for us when He died. Second, Romans 5:8 declares God “showed His great love for us”, by sending Christ to die for us. His death eradicated the wall that was separating us from His love.

Let us no longer be confused about the truth. God sent His Son for you because He loved you. This makes it possible for you to “Live Lighter Today”.

QUESTION OF THE DAY:

Express why God gave His Son for you.  Your thoughts are appreciated.
