God Believes In You

How does it make you feel to know that the God of the universe, the maker of the heavens and earth actually believes in you? This should make you proclaim, “WOW”!

In Matthew 5:3-12, Jesus begins to tell the crowds that have gathered what kingdom people look like. He makes such inferences as, kingdom people are poor in spirit, they mourn, they are gentle in spirit, they hunger and thirst for righteousness, they are full of mercy, they speak truth in the midst of lies, they are persecuted for His name sake, they will receive insults and evil will be spoken about them.

But, in Matthew 5:13-16 Jesus is no longer only declaring what kingdom people look and act like, but, He is now speaking directly to them.

Take a moment and see yourself sitting at the feet of Jesus and listen carefully to Him speaking directly to you. He is saying, “You are the light of the world, you are the salt in this earth” He is not saying, become salt, become light. He is saying you already are salt and light. There is nothing to work up, simply begin to act like who you already are.

The man Jesus, His Father and the Holy Spirit actually believe in you so much that they made you the carriers of God’s light to a dark and pain filled earth. Matthew 5:16 declares this truth. God wants you to give away His light!

“Let you light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”  (Matthew 5:16 NIV)
